St. Stephen’s Cathedral

Overview

One of the most important historical buildings of the Catholic quarters is the cathedral of the city, dedicated to “St. Stephen” the proto-martyr, called “Kisha e Madhe” or “Great Church” has a special significance for the inhabitants of Shkodra because in 1993 it was visited by Pope John Paul II.  The cathedral is the main church of the Archdiocese of Shkodra.
