The house of Kodra family, also (Nishani), a stone characteristic majestic house with an ottoman style was located in the centre of the city just in front of Gjirokastër Fortress (Castle of Gjirokastra). Next to the house, was the prefecture of Gjirokastra in a different style with Kodra Family house. After 1944 this house was taken by force from the government.
Later on, this house was used for offices and in 1953 this house was burnt and the government rebuild the cultural palace. After a short period of time the government build the giant monument of Enver Hoxha. In 1993 this property was given to the owner’s and in 2013 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has given the licence to rebuild their house with the same characteristics and style. Today, Boutique Hotel Kodra is an emblematic landmark of Gjirokastra city, located in the heart of the historical centre of the UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage City of Gjirokastër.
