The Blue Eye is a karst spring located on the western slopes of Mount Mali i Gjerë in Albania. It has a flow rate of 6 m³/s making it the richest spring in the country. The water gushes out at a temperature of 12.75 °C, the depth of the spring has not yet been ascertained. Against the background of the light limestone rock the spring takes on a dark blue colour, which gives it its name. The Blue Eye is another wonder of southern Albania, located on the road between the cities of Saranda, on the Ionian Sea, and Gjirokastra, further inland. The water in the inner part of the spring appears very dark blue, like the pupil of an eye, and a lighter color than blue as an outer ring – the iris, which gives the impression of a blue eye.
